I thought the first story of the series was ok but this one just bored me。 You could see every twist coming from the very beginning of the story。 When I hit the middle of the story I was just forcing myself to finish the story and wasn’t enjoying it。 Honestly I don’t even like Luca or Amarande and they are most of the story as they’re the main characters

Exciting adventure with shifting loyalties, swordplay, royal intrigue and, of course, love。 An excellent read!

This series is still amazing!!! I LOVE how it's evolved from its original inspiration of the Princess Bride to become a wholly different thing (although the reference of Ula! Doing THAT Inigo Montaya quote? *chef's kiss*)。 In fact, I really loved how it really turned towards a darker, more Game of Thrones style (like come on。 That wedding feast? The stuff any Lannister or Bolton would be proud of lmaooooo)。 I am still in love with Amarande's and Luca's true love。。。 there's something so powerful This series is still amazing!!! This was such a fun book。 And the main story arc does conclude。 But I thought this was a duology and apparently a third book is coming out and I'm relieved because that epilogue!?!?!??!?!?!?!?!I like the way Henning makes this its own story that anyone can enjoy while also clearly making it a Princess Bride retelling/homage。 It's clear in both books, but I definitely felt it more in this book than in the first。All of the characters are so interesting and nuanced, I appreciate the varied female c This was such a fun book。 And the main story arc does conclude。 But I thought this was a duology and apparently a third book is coming out and I'm relieved because that epilogue!?!?!??!?!?!?!?!I like the way Henning makes this its own story that anyone can enjoy while also clearly making it a Princess Bride retelling/homage。 It's clear in both books, but I definitely felt it more in this book than in the first。All of the characters are so interesting and nuanced, I appreciate the varied female characters especially。 A great fantasy and a wonderful homage to one of my favorite stories。 。。。more

Too many POVs at the expense of an emotional connection with Ama and Luca。 Too much going on in general。 By the halfway point the only character I cared about was Tal。 Also what was with that final scene? Why waste our last moment that way? I assume for a spinoff but unless that spin off has an alive but maybe unwell Tal I'm done with this series。Update from 5 minutes later: ok, it's trilogy now I guess。 If the reviews / spoilers tell me Tal is back, i'll read it。 Otherwise it's a pass from me。 Too many POVs at the expense of an emotional connection with Ama and Luca。 Too much going on in general。 By the halfway point the only character I cared about was Tal。 Also what was with that final scene? The queen will betray you is the second installment in the sand and sky trilogy and I'm dying for book three! Was it to his mother? Was it to his real mother? I was left constantly guessing and I was certain he was going to betray one of them。 That belief in potential betrayal kept me at the edge of my seat。 My one big criticism with this book (and The Princess Will Save You) was its dialogue and conversation about true love。 Everybody seemed to have an opinion about how Luca and Amarande were so in love with each other that they'd do anything (and everything) for each other。 Which, yes, was sweet。 I cannot deny that, but it did seem a bit over the top at times。 The book left on an open ended ending and I really want to find out what happened to Geneva and to Taillefer even though it was somewhat resolved。 I felt like the last times we saw him in this book was a little bit rushed which makes me believes there's more to the story than we believe。 I would absolutely love to read the final book in this series。 2022 can't come soon enough! I had a lot of hopes that the sequel to The Princess Will Save You would be better but it sadly didn’t have me feeling anything。 The connection I had with the main character in book 1 was not there in this, but I still had connection to her love interest Luca。 And he was the only thing I enjoyed from this book。 There was nothing that got me hooked into the storyline, characters (other than Luca), and the world building didn’t do a lot for me。 Overall, I sadly couldn’t find anything in this book I had a lot of hopes that the sequel to The Princess Will Save You would be better but it sadly didn’t have me feeling anything。 The connection I had with the main character in book 1 was not there in this, but I still had connection to her love interest Luca。 And he was the only thing I enjoyed from this book。 There was nothing that got me hooked into the storyline, characters (other than Luca), and the world building didn’t do a lot for me。 Overall, I sadly couldn’t find anything in this book that made me invested in the story and main character, so I will not be continuing with this series。 。。。more

The Queen will Betray You is a solid sequel to The Princess Will Save You。 Where the first book fell flat in some parts, this one really picked up the pace and was exactly what you want in a sequel, fast-paced, expanded world and character building, and a satisfying ending that leaves the reader wanting more (and anticipating The King Will Kill You!)。 I love the strong women in this book who are all set on destroying the patriarchy。 I will definitely be adding this series to my school library。 T The Queen will Betray You is a solid sequel to The Princess Will Save You。 Where the first book fell flat in some parts, this one really picked up the pace and was exactly what you want in a sequel, fast-paced, expanded world and character building, and a satisfying ending that leaves the reader wanting more (and anticipating The King Will Kill You!)。 I love the strong women in this book who are all set on destroying the patriarchy。 I will definitely be adding this series to my school library。 Thanks to NetGalley for the ARC of this book! 。。。more

What lengths will these spoiled queens go to to get what they want? The twists and turns in this book were great! Kept me on my toes wondering what will happen next! You get to learn more about Amarande and about her mother’s past and others since there are a few chapters that are flashbacks that helped explain actions some took in the present time。 I really appreciated those chapters, plus you really get to learn about some of these characters really well and why they are the way they are。 I don’t want to say much since this is a sequel and I don’t want to spoil anything。 The character building is even better than the first one since we learn even more about some of our favorite characters we met in the first one。 There’s not much romantic action that occurs, but you can definitely feel it between Luca and Amarande and you’re just rooting for them the whole way! The last thing I will say is TAILLEFER IS EVERYTHING TO ME。 He is the star of this book! I know I should despise him, but I can’t! A fun read。 Ms。 Henning managed to whip up a complex and interesting plot with some intriguing characters。 She kept me wondering how it was all going to wrap up nearly to the last page。 There were a few things I didn't enjoy。 The motivations of one of the characters were confusing。 They were meant to be, but the attempt to explain them wasn't satisfactory to me。 I also felt that there were a few too many pauses for a dramatic rehearsal of the stakes。 A fun read。 Ms。 Henning managed to whip up a complex and interesting plot with some intriguing characters。 She kept me wondering how it was all going to wrap up nearly to the last page。 There were a few things I didn't enjoy。 The motivations of one of the characters were confusing。 They were meant to be, but the attempt to explain them wasn't satisfactory to me。 I also felt that there were a few too many pauses for a dramatic rehearsal of the stakes。 。。。more

The Queen Will Betray You is the second novel in the Kingdoms of Sand and Sky trilogy with the third novel due to publication in 2022。 I believe that this was originally a duology that was expanded to a trilogy, so there are elements in this novel that conclude as a finale and some open-ended bits that leave room for the next novel。 This story picks up right where The Princess Will Save You ends and continues to pull some inspiration from The Princess Bride。 Luca and Amarande (Ama) are sepa The Queen Will Betray You is the second novel in the Kingdoms of Sand and Sky trilogy with the third novel due to publication in 2022。 I believe that this was originally a duology that was expanded to a trilogy, so there are elements in this novel that conclude as a finale and some open-ended bits that leave room for the next novel。 This story picks up right where The Princess Will Save You ends and continues to pull some inspiration from The Princess Bride。 Luca and Amarande (Ama) are separated for most of the novel as each learn secrets about their pasts。 Ama learns about her family and Luca learns more about the truth about his past。During the first novel, I was not fully invested in Amarande and Luca, but this novel captivated me a lot more。 Even if they were not together the whole time, I at least felt more connected to their story。 I am not fully there, but it was an improvement from the first novel。 Luca has grown on me a lot as a character as he was just an okay presence in the first novel。 His character develops a lot over the course of the two books and it was nice to see his confidence build。 I liked how his character still has the likeability from the first novel with his “newer” traits added on。 It is nice when authors do this rather than have characters make sudden changes in their personality。 Ama also grows a lot as a character as she goes through a lot in the story。 She realizes that everything she knows might be wrong and now has to figure out how to move forward。Prince Taillefer grew on me a lot during this novel compared to the previous。 I love how complex his character became, as he is fascinating with a seemingly evil exterior and more hidden beneath the surface。 I even loved his interactions with Ama, as they were interesting with a mix of tension and the very beginnings of friendship。 From the first novel, there are many unforgivable actions, but it was still nice to see a villain perspective。 It added a lot to the story by bringing some balance instead of having the entire focus on the side of the heroes。 His history and his family were intense, so a lot of his character becomes more understandable to the reader。 He may not be one that the reader wants to root for the whole time, but at least his character had a lot of dimension。 I love when stories do this because there are some readers that will side with the villains, there are those that may not agree, but still have some understanding, and there are those that hate them。 His complexity can definitely go for any of those options depending on the reader based on this part of the story。There is a lot of political intrigue in this novel and there was many twists and turns。 It is faster paced and more complex than the previous novel。 Each character has their own secrets, their own motivations, and their own potential for betrayal。 At times, it can become fairly complex, which seems a little off-balance considering the first novel was a little simpler。 However, I found myself more invested in this story than I was in the previous。 There are new characters and the story is told from multiple perspectives。 The inclusion of the Warlord of the Torrent was an excellent addition that added a lot of tension to the story。Again, as this was originally a duology, a part of me is satisfied as a reader where I do not need to read a third novel。 On the other hand, I am curious about how the final one in the trilogy will tie everything together to create the ending that the author intended。 The series is an interesting one as usually I have a clearer idea if I love it or dislike it, but this one I am fairly on the fence。 There is nothing super negative that makes me never want to read it again or continue to the next one, but there is nothing that makes it stand out to me。 It is still good and I will be very interested to read the final novel and see how I feel about the series as a whole。 [3。75 rounded to 4] 。。。more

One of my favourite parts of this book was Taillefer and his character ARC。 His sarcasm knows no limits and I laughed out loud a few times at his actions and reactions。 After how it ended, I will be patiently counting down the months until the third installment is released, The King Will Kill You。 Can we also take a moment to appreciate the gorgeous cover too。 *"Even the best of us are willing to lie for those we love。。。"*Thank you, to NetGalley and Macmillan Tor Teen for an ARC of this book in exchange for my honest review。*“I am proud to say you have yet to successfully stab me。。。” 。。。more
